SHELBY — Third Street Family Health Services has been providing quality healthcare in the community for over 30 years.
As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), its mission is to deliver
comprehensive health and wellness care that is accessible to all.
Third Street provides behavioral health, community health worker, dental, medical, medication-assisted treatment, OB/GYN, pediatric, podiatry and pharmacy services across 13 locations in north central Ohio.
Recently, its implemented several positive changes to better serve its patients.
In the last year, Third Street has added a curb cutout at Ashland Health & Wellness Center and installed wheelchair recliner equipment at both the 600 W. Third St. location and Shelby Health & Wellness Center dental practices.

Additionally, Third Street has expanded its transportation and pharmacy delivery services.
The Ashland Health & Wellness Center curb cutout project offers several key benefits for those seeking care at this location.
Adding the cutout enhances accessibility by improving access for individuals with mobility challenges, including those using wheelchairs, walkers or strollers. The cutout also improves patient safety by providing smoother transitions from parking areas to the
clinic, which reduces the risk of trips and falls.
The cutout offers a designated drop-off area, which reduces congestion in the parking lot and streamlines patient arrivals and departures. Creating more accessibility means increased community engagement.
Easier access to healthcare services encourages more community members to seek care, supporting overall public health.
The newly installed wheelchair recliner equipment at both Shelby Health & Wellness Center and the 600. W Third St. location also increases accessibility for Third Street’s patients.

These vital pieces of equipment allow patients in wheelchairs to receive dental care without needing to transfer to a traditional chair, making visits easier and more comfortable. Eliminating the need to transfer from one chair to the other reduces the risk of injury for both patients and staff.
Adding this equipment enables the practices to serve a broader population, including those
with mobility challenges, ensuring equitable access to oral healthcare. This project has also
improved efficiency for providers.
Dentists and hygienists can work more effectively with proper patient positioning, which enhances treatment quality and reduces strain on providers. The addition of the wheelchair recliner equipment demonstrates a commitment to inclusive care, reinforcing Third Street’s mission to serve all individuals, regardless of physical ability.
Additionally, Third Street Family Health Services has ramped up their transportation services by adding an additional day of services for patients on Friday and the pharmacy delivery service now provides 30 percent of prescriptions via delivery each month.
Third Street Family Health Services is always growing and evolving to meet the needs of their patients. They are dedicated to meeting folks where they are and providing them with quality care.
The curb cutout, wheelchair recliners and improved transportation services are just a few
examples that show Third Street is always working to improve the health of community members. Call (419)-522-6191 to schedule your appointment today.
