Bellville: Carolyn Awwiller will be remembered for her love of family and unwavering dedication to Jesus. Not even her physical ailments could keep Carolyn from witnessing about God’s Love, Grace, and Salvation to her hospital caregivers. A true testament of her love for Jesus. No longer bound by her physical body, Carolyn Kay Awwiller was ushered into the presence of her gracious Lord and Savior Friday, May 2, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

The daughter of Chester and Betty (Walters) McDonald, Carolyn was born December 28, 1939 in Mansfield and attended Bellville Schools.

Carolyn had worked for the San Dar in Bellville in her younger years. Later she worked at Tappans which is where she first met Larry Awwiller. The two married January 1, 1962.

A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Carolyn’s focus was always on her family. She embraced her role as wife and mom, and was active in raising her three sons.

She genuinely loved children, and for many years opened her house and gave so much of her time as a babysitter. Often watching 4-5 children at once, Carolyn’s grace and patience allowed her to establish lifelong friendships with many families in the area.

Carolyn had a soft spot for animals most notably a special bond with Norma…..her pet cow! Even in Carolyn’s youth, she “adopted” a pet raccoon. Her love of animals included hamsters, horses, donkeys, as well as cats and dogs. Carolyn never missed the opportunity to spend time at her barn.

More than anything, Carolyn loved Jesus, and her message would be… “Don’t wait, accept Christ, He is worth every second of your life!”

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Larry Awwiller of Bellville; son Todd (Lisa) Awwiller of Fredericktown, Steven (Lisa) Awwiller of Fredericktown, and Brian (Pam) Awwiller of Shelby; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her special Uncle Don Walters.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Carolyn Kay Awwiller will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 at 4 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where her family will receive friends from 2 pm – 4 pm. Pastor Dawson Calendine will officiate.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Richland County or Knox County Dog Shelter.
