Raymond L. Smith, age 94 of Mansfield, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 2, 1931, in Mansfield to the late Shelly and Elizabeth (Bauer) Smith, and on July 26, 1960, he married the love of his life, Fontella (Taylor). She preceded him in death on October 8, 2018.
Ray owned and operated Shelly Smith and Sons, performing every task imaginable from towing to crane operation until his retirement in 2011. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He is survived by his children, Robert (Beth) Smith, Pam Smith, and Bryon Smith; his grandchildren, Shelly (Christopher), Kaitlyn, and Roxanna; and his great-grandchildren, Keighan and Gavyn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Fontella Smith; his parents, Shelly and Elizabeth Smith; and his brothers, Edward and Arthur Smith.
Private services will be held at a later date.
