MANSFIELD — To encourage public art and elevate local artists, the Mansfield Public Art Commission (MPAC) has joined efforts with the Mansfield Richland County Public Library to design a new art gallery space for public exhibitions.

The dedicated space is on the 2nd-floor lobby of the Main Library. MPAC will coordinate all of the artwork displayed in this space.

This year’s top award winners at the recent Artapolooza, Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center’s annual student art show, were invited by MPAC to exhibit their winning artwork at The Mayor’s Show: Rising Artists of Mid-Ohio.

“I firmly believe that the arts have the power to transform a community,” mayor Jodie Perry said. “I am excited for this inaugural show to spotlight some amazing local emerging artists.”

This gallery exhibition will be the first to be displayed in the new space from May 1 to 23.

The community is invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 1, at 4:30 p.m. at the exhibit wall in the Main Library.

The Main Library, 43 W. Third Street, Mansfield, Ohio is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.
