SHELBY — The Women’s Fund of The Shelby Foundation on April 28 is hosting a tea for mothers, grandmothers and their teen-aged loved ones to hear how drinking and driving can have devastating consequences.
Guest speaker Heidi McKenzie, a Shelby native, will share her heartbreaking story of driving while intoxicated and how it forever changed her life. Her moving journey will focus on her decisions, permanent injuries, and how she has overcome it to be an inspiration to others.
The cost of the evening is $15, which includes dinner, but the event is free for 100+ Women for Shelby members.
Due to the nature of the topic, teenagers need to register at www.theshelbyfoundation.org or by calling 419-342-3686.
The program will take place at the Shelby Community and Senior Center from 6:30 to 8 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. Due to the seriousness of the topic, lecture is appropriate for girls 13 and older.
