MANSFIELD – North Central State College and partnering school’s engineering technology students will drive the electric vehicles they built as their capstone projects at the 7th annual Grand Challenge Race.
This event will take place at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, 7721 Steam Corners Rd., Lexington on April 30. Admission is free.
Race Day Schedule
Electric Vehicle Races (Main Event) – 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Awards Ceremony – 6:30 to 7 p.m.
Each team has been building an electric vehicle throughout the school year.
They began by researching and designing the types of vehicles they might want to build, including frame, steering, braking, gearing, power, and drive options – and the optimal combination to provide the best overall performance and energy efficiency.
The students will spend the day displaying and racing their electric, autonomous, and
experimental vehicles.
*Attendees will be asked to sign a waiver to enter the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
