With broken hearts, we share the sudden and unexpected passing of Rudy Cruz Jr., who left us far too soon on April 5, 2025, at the age of 38. Rudy passed peacefully at his home, leaving behind a deep void in the lives of everyone who loved him.

Rudy was born on June 6, 1986, in Columbus, Georgia, to Susan Brown and Rodolfo Cruz. He was a proud father, a loyal brother, a hardworking craftsman, and a true friend. He is survived by his three beloved children—Jenna Lynn, Jada Lynn, and Malakai Rowen Cruz—who were the greatest joys of his life.

He is also survived by his father Rodolfo Cruz, his non-biological mother Paula Cruz, his grandmother Evelyn Brown, step-grandfather Dave Stuber, and his siblings Christina Cruz, Anthony Cruz, and Amanda Cruz, nieces Ariana Florio and Nevaeh Florio who will carry his memory forever in their hearts. Rudy also leaves behind several loving cousins, aunts, and uncles who will deeply miss his presence. Rudy was preceded in death by his grandfather Gilbert Cruz, grandmother Ofelia Cruz, grandfather Kennith Brown, step-grandmother BettyLou Stube,r and uncle Gilbert Cruz.

Rudy had a big heart and a strong spirit. He worked proudly as a carpenter, always putting his hands and heart into everything he built. He had a deep love for the outdoors—fishing was his escape, and he found happiness in the simple peace of the water. He also loved riding motorcycles with his friends, chasing sunsets, and making memories on the open road. But one thing everyone knew about Rudy—he was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Win or lose, he wore his team’s colors with pride and never missed a game.

A private celebration of Rudy’s life will be held at a later date, surrounded by close family and friends who will gather to honor the life, laughter, and love he shared so generously.

Rudy Cruz Jr. was a father, a son, a brother, and a friend—but most of all, he was deeply loved. And that love will carry on, always.
