Derek Andrew Lawrence, 33 of Ashland passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, April 8, 2025 in his home.
He was born on June 14, 1991 the son of Kimberly (nee Lawrence) Byler and Jason Hout.
Derek graduated from Hillsdale High School, Class of 2010. He was employed as a union carpenter for more than 5 years.
Throughout his life, he was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He also enjoyed raising his bloodhounds, Hank Williams Jr. II and Jed Clampett, V. Derek was a loving father to his children and was always looking out for them.
He is survived by one daughter, Leigha Lawrence of Mansfield; one son, Hunter Lawrence of Mansfield; his fiancée, Lori Morris of Ashland; his mother, Kim (Ed Gibson) Byler of Ashland; his father, Jason Hout of Ashland; two sisters, Kayla (Joe Miller) Gerwig of Ashland and Madyn Hout of Ashland; five brothers, Cory (Skylar Huff) Gerwig of New London, Austin Gerwig of Ashland, Clayton Hout of Mansfield and Zayden Hout of Ashland; his step-father, Matt Gerwig of Wellington; his maternal grandfather, E. Thomas Lawrence of Ashland; his paternal grandparents, Tom and Joyce Hout of Shenandoah; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Derek is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Marjorie Lawrence.
A Celebration of Derek’s Life will be announced at a future date.
