Theodore Henry Hoover Jr. of Mansfield passed away early Thursday morning, April 3, 2025, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital at that age of 78.
He was born May 29, 1946, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Theodore and Ruby (Snair) Hoover. Ted was a 1964 graduate of Madison High School. He worked at and retired from AK Steel and then Madison Local School District where he worked as a custodian. Ted was a huge OSU, Cleveland Guardians and Cleveland Browns fan-cheering them on through all the ups and downs. He enjoyed trying his luck at the slot machines and relaxed by bird watching. His most favorite time was spent in the company of his family.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Nancy Wycoff Hoover; children, Michael (Amanda) Hoover, Gerald (Macheal) Hoover and Troy (Jamie) Hoover; six grandchildren, Skylar (Alexis), Samantha (Alec), Eric Jr., Krisna (Andy), Gabrielle and Megan; numerous great-grandchildren; and several chosen family members.
Ted is preceded in death by his parents; son, Eric Hoover; and three sisters, Patricia Poth, Sandra Edwards and Ila Mae Clinage.
Per Ted’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the family to help offset funeral expenses.
