ONTARIO — It’s officially Week of the Young Child in the city of Ontario.

Mayor Kris Knapp presented a Proclamation for the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Week of the Young Child earlier this week at Clover Hill Early Learning Center.

Knapp declared April 5 to 11 as a week to raise awareness about the importance of early childhood education.

“The first years of a child’s life are the period of the most rapid brain development and lay the foundation for all future learning,” Knapp said.

“I call upon all Ontario residents to join the effort to ensure that children, supported by families, have the early experience they need for a strong foundation.”

Knapp read a book to the students after presenting the proclamation and toured the center.

“This proclamation highlights the importance of early childhood education and the incredible role our educators, families, and community members play in nurturing the growth and development of our youngest learners,” owner Natasha Repp said.
