MANSFIELD — The Renaissance Performing Arts Association is excited to announce submissions are now open for the 2025-2026 Emerging Artists Festival.
Since its inception in 2020 with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, this festival has become a vital platform for guiding, encouraging, and supporting artists in the creation and development of original works.
The Emerging Artists Festival invites playwrights, composers, musicians, dancers, and poets to showcase their talents.
Selected works will undergo a one-week workshop with a director and a cast of actors, culminating in a public staged reading where audiences are encouraged to provide feedback. This immersive experience fosters artistic innovation and helps bring new works to life.
Submissions of plays, musicals, and screenplays are open now through April 11. Interested artists can find more information and submit their work at rentickets.org/emerging-artists.
Michael Thomas, founder of the Emerging Artists Program and artistic director emeritus, shared his excitement for the festival:
“The Emerging Artists Festival has grown into an internationally recognized program that continues to amplify diverse voices and fresh perspectives. This is a space where artists can experiment, collaborate, and refine their work in a supportive environment,” Thomas said.
Selected artists will participate in a two-night rehearsal process with directors and actors, followed by a public staged reading and Q&A session on the third night. Each season, 3-5 pieces are chosen for these staged readings, with each selected playwright receiving a $500 award and housing accommodations during their workshop week.
Mark your calendars for the 2026 festival workshop public staged readings:
