BUTLER: Patricia Ann Reeder, age 93, passed away at her home on March 22, 2025 with her loving family gathered near. Pat, a dedicated wife and mother, was a kind, guiding light for those she loved.
Pat was born on January 2, 1932 to parents Carl Matthew and Helen Elizabeth (Buck) Wikle in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1949. She had hopes of becoming a farmer’s wife and living an idyllic dream in the countryside, and on April 21, 1955, her wish came true when she wed Donald Reeder. While Don served in the armed forces, they lived in Augusta, Georgia and then Fayetteville, North Carolina. An avid letter-writer, she penned thoughtful messages to her husband every day. She remained a devoted writer throughout her life, sending letters to friends and family. Together, the couple raised two daughters, Sherre and Melanie.
Although she helped at Reeder Lumber in Butler and worked at the Rudin Company department store, Pat most enjoyed being a wife and mother and tending to her home and family. She took enormous pride in her family and the bountiful harvests they worked to create, showing her love and gratitude through cooking hearty meals for family and farmhands alike. She spent meticulous hours tending to her garden, and was a dedicated member of the North Liberty Garden Club. Likewise, she was a member of both the Butler Homemaker’s Club and the Mother’s Club, maintaining strong friendships with other women who shared her love for family. She valued small and sentimental things, often attending auctions to hunt for antique treasures. Pat loved feeding the birds outside with a special fondness for hummingbirds and her water garden. She and her family enjoyed snow skiing and trips together to Gatlinburg, never missing a chance to spend time with those she loved most. When she became a grandparent, she was able to be active in their lives and pour her affection into them as well.
She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 70 years, Donald Reeder, two daughters Sherre Weiler of Fredericktown and Melanie Kelly of Butler; grandchildren William Weiler, Christopher (Adelyn) Weiler, Michael (Nichole) Weiler, Amy (Don) Thompson and Anne (Tyler) Doup; great grandchildren Aksel, Ava, Henry, Gabriel, Lucas, Clara, Olivia and Amelia; and her step sister Patsy Reed-Nash.
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by a son-in-law Richard Weiler, step mother AnnaBelle Wikle and in-laws, Cyrus and Josephine Reeder.
The Reeder family will host an hour of calling Monday, March 31, 2025 from 1 pm to 2 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where a memorial service will follow at 2 pm.
Memorial donations in honor of Pat may be made to Hospice of Western Reserve.
The Bellville Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the Reeder Family.
