BUCYRUS — A drug-sniffing K-9 helped Bucyrus police arrest two people from outside Crawford County on Saturday night.

At about 7:10 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of South Walnut and East Charles streets, according a Bucyrus Police Department press release on Monday.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Derek Kleman, 23, of Forest, Ohio, was found to have a suspended driver’s license. Forest is a village in Hardin and Wyandot counties

Police brought in K-9 Capone to sniff the vehicle and a positive indication to the presence of narcotic odor was observed.

Officers then searched the vehicle and drug paraphernalia was found, police said.

A passenger, identified as Rashae Lauck, 22, of Arlington, Ohio, was found to be in possession of approximately 10 grams of suspected crack cocaine and 27 suspected oxycodone pills. Arlington is in Hancock County.

Arlington and Forest are located about 14 miles from one another.

Both suspects were taken to the Crawford County Justice Center to be held for court on charges of drug possession, tampering with evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing official business have been referred to the Crawford County Prosecutor for review.
