Sherley Mae Black, “Betsy,” 73, of Iberia, passed away at Galion Hospital on Friday, March 21, 2025.

Betsy was born in Galion on December 17, 1951, to the late William and Elizabeth (Dunford) Eaton. She married the love of her life, Dean Black, on December 12, 1970, and they shared 54 years of loving marriage. Dean survives in Iberia.

Betsy had a magnetic personality and a heart destined to give, touching the lives of everyone who had the privilege of crossing her path.

Betsy, the family matriarch, cherished her loved ones above all else. She found immense joy in spoiling her grandchildren, ensuring they always felt loved. Betsy lived a life rooted in faith, always trusting in God’s plan and sharing His love with others. She was a dedicated member of Miracle Meetings Church in Galion. There, she shared her gift of music, playing the guitar, singing with the praise and worship team, and lifting spirits through song.

Betsy was a woman of many talents. She found solace and creativity in reading, crocheting, painting, and capturing moments through photography. All who knew her will deeply miss her artistic soul and fun-loving nature.

In addition to her husband, Betsy’s memories will forever be cherished by her children: Dylan (Beth) Black of Bellville and Elizabeth Black of Bellville; Grandchildren: Brayden, Isaac, Trevor, and Brooklyn; Siblings: Lorraine (David) Arthur, Kathy (Doug) Ludwig, Terry (Bill) Seymour, Robin (Jeff) Dye; Brother-in-law: Howard Black; Chosen sons: William “Bouncer” Dunford and Paul Salvatori; Numerous beloved nieces and nephews who she claimed as her own; K9 companion: Sawyer.

Friends may call on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Mark A Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with brother-in-law and Chaplain Bill Seymour officiating. Burial will follow at Iberia Cemetery.
