Alan Patrick Montey, 85, of Galion, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025 at Mill Creek Nursing Home with his loving wife by his side.
Alan was born in Galion on January 4, 1940, to the late Edmund and Vivian (Stevens) Montey.
A proud graduate of Galion High School, Class of 1958, Alan honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. On February 21, 1960, he married the love of his life, Mary Woogerd, and together they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage.
Alan found great joy in the outdoors, whether fishing, landscaping, or cutting wood. He was passionate about staying active, lifting weights, and keeping fit throughout his life. His retirement years in Myrtle Beach with Mary were among his most cherished, filled with sunshine, relaxation, and lasting memories.
Above all, Alan treasured his family. He especially loved the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.
In addition to his loving wife Mary, Alan’s memories will be cherished by his sons: David (Helen) Montey of Crestline and Marc (Cyd) Montey of Mansfield; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Alan was preceded in death by his siblings: Martin Montey and Nancy Totman.
Friends may call on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. A funeral service will follow immediately at 3:00 pm with Full Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Richland County Humane Society or Gentiva Hospice.
