Flagstaff, Arizona – Dr. Thomas Drouhard, 77, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 13, following a five-year struggle with renal failure. He was surrounded by close friends and family of caregivers that resided at his home.

Born at Ashland, Ohio on January 12, 1948, Tom grew up on a farm near Loudonville with three brothers, one sister and his parents, the late Warren and Leona (Grosswiller) Drouhard, Sr. He was a 1966 graduate of Loudonville High School, a 1970 graduate in pre-medicine from John Carroll University, Cleveland and a graduate of The Ohio State School of Medicine, Columbus, in 1973. In 1978, following the completion of his internship, residency and surgical training at Columbus area hospitals he accepted a position with the United States Public Health Service, taking a two-year assignment as a general surgeon at the Tuba City Indian Medical Center, Tuba City, Arizona. He never left, tirelessly serving the Navajo and Hopi tribes of Northern Arizona until his retirement with the rank of captain, US Navy in 2001. Tom continued his work in the same capacity with the US Civil Service and then the Navajo Tribe until his final retirement in 2015.

Nothing spoke louder of Tom’s generosity as a human being than his donation of a kidney to his ailing sister, Linda, in 1985. His gift allowed her to live a normal life until her untimely death in 2020 at the age of 70.

Tom is survived by brothers Colonel Warren (Elin) Drouhard, Jr. (USAF Ret.) of Lexington, Ohio, Patrick (Becky) Drouhard of Cardington, Ohio, Richard (Dianna) Drouhard of Perrysville, Ohio, brother-in-law Steve Franko of Laguna Niguel, California and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Franko, and his parents.

Tom’s family thanks special friends Medge and Rob Windmiller, Marge Blaisdell and Cheryl Magee, all of Flagstaff, AZ, for their help and kindness to Tom during his health struggle. Great thanks and appreciation are extended to the caregivers who lived with Tom at his home. They were his family. These include Sherry Babbitt, Hurbert Stevens, Edgerton Nez, Santana Hanks, Jurell Willie, and Harolton Hanks.

A Mass of Christian Burial and a memorial service will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, Loudonville, Ohio, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Tom’s remains will be interred alongside his sister Linda’s at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Loudonville.

A second Mass, memorial service, and luncheon will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Tuba City, AZ, beginning at 12:00 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time on Wednesday, April 23.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Loudonville-Perrysville School Foundation, PO Box 73, Loudonville, OH 44842 or online at https://www.lpschoolfoundation.org/.
