David Wayne Pursley, age 66, passed away on March 15, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona. Born on April 8, 1958, he lived in Mansfield, Ohio, attending Madison Schools. He spent his growing years in the “mountains, woods and dugouts” of the neighborhood. He loved building model cars and erector sets. He was involved in Boy Scouts and achieved the impressive status of Eagle Scout.
David had always exhibited a wandering soul, traveling with his father and following work which took him through many states including West Virginia, Indiana, Florida, and ultimately settling where he loved it most, the warm and beautiful Southwest, in Phoenix, Arizona. David considered himself to be a “jack of all trades and a master of none.” David’s many talents included drawing and poetry which he shared with many. He loved riding his Harley, though he rode it too fast, enjoying the freedom and space it provided.
David is survived by his beloved son, Quentin (Courtney) Pursley and two beautiful grandchildren, Serenity and Chaos, residing in Kentucky. Also surviving are two sisters – Debora (Harold “Arch”) Whited of Galion, Kelly (Wilbur “Willie”) Mollett of Mansfield, one brother – Billy Pursley, Jr., of Loudonville, two step-brothers – Thomas Tupps of Portsmouth and Roger Tupps, Jr., of North Carolina, one step-sister – Melisa Tupps of Louisiana, his parents – Charlotte and Roger Tupps of Mansfield, Uncles Roger Rush of Mansfield and Wayne Rush of Indiana, Aunt Patricia Ramsey of Florida, and Uncle Michael Pursley of Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
David was proceeded in death by his father – Billy E. Pursley, Sr., and step-mother – Dorothy Pursley, sister-in-law – Barbara Pursley, grandparents – Wayne and Mildred Rush, Manford and Maude Pursley, Walter “Barney” and Virginia Tupps, and several aunts and uncles.
There will be no services for David. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, forever!
