Miriam “Mitzi” Carolyn Vensel, age 76, of Galion, passed away at her residence on Friday, March 7, 2025.
Born on August 6, 1948, in Galion, she was the daughter of the late David Lee and Miriam (Durtschi) Vensel.
She was a 1966 graduate of Galion High School then she went on to earn her teaching degree from Baldwin Wallace College in 1970. She taught 1st and 2nd grades at Northmor Iberia Elementary for 37 years.
Mitzi was an animal lover, always caring for a succession of cats, dogs, and strays. She was a life member of Peace Lutheran Church in Galion and a proud member of the NRA.
Mitzi is survived by her brother Steve (Fern) Engelhorn, nieces and nephews: Aneda (Robert) Beltzer, Heather (Jack) Goodyear, Amber Oakes, Sarah (Liz) Cole, Isaac (Christina) Engelhorn, Aaron Oakes, Jacob McGowan, Abigail (Zach Powers) Engelhorn and Seth Engelhorn and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Janet A. Vensel, sister Pamela McGowan, and an infant brother David.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 10:00 am at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Mike Greenler officiating.
