MANSFIELD: E. Ray Simmering, age 93, passed away at home on March 6, 2025.
Born in South Webster, Ohio on July 22, 1931 to Charles and Etta (Maynard) Simmering, Ray enjoyed 29 years at Mansfield Tire before working at Lex Lanes. He adored working at the bowling alley for almost a decade and was himself an avid and talented bowler. Although a hard worker throughout his life, Ray rarely spent an idle moment, even when the opportunity presented itself. A jack of all trades, he was skilled with his hands and always found a way to make things work.
Ray is survived by children Mike (Pam) Simmering, Gary (Dee) Simmering, Sue Snavely, Sharon (Ray) Kochheiser, Karen Boyce, Bob (Linda) Kline, Don (Laura) Kline; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren and a brother Bob (Carolyn) Simmering.
He is preceded in death by his wife Kathleen; parents Charles and Etta; brothers Arthur, Harold Charles Jr.; sisters Betty Kibbee, Marce Glorioso, Jeannie Poth Bert Glorioso, Midge Young; son Stephen Simmering; grandchild Jeremy Snavely; and son-in-law Martin Boyce.
In lieu of flowers, Ray’s family invites loved ones to make contributions in his memory to the Pathfinder Club at Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Ray’s family invites friends to join them for calling hours from 4 to 5 pm with a funeral service following on Friday, March 14 at Mansfield Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1040 West Cook Road, Mansfield, Ohio 44906. Pastor Israel Caville will officiate.
