Carole Jayne Whatman Lehnhart, age 80, of Bellville passed away at her daughter’s home in Mansfield, March 9, 2025.
Carole was born in Mansfield on December 1, 1944, the only daughter of the late Albert and Opal (Crunkilton) Whatman. Carole married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life Jerry Lehnhart in 1962 and spent 32 years together before his passing in 1994.
Carole graduated from Bellville High School in 1962. She worked at Essex in Lexington for over 30 years and at Deca. Carole loved to bake for family, friends, and co-workers. She also decorated cakes and made candy. She was an avid cookbook collector, collecting since the age of 10. Carole’s cookbook collection was numbered in the thousands.
She was a member of Chapel Hill Methodist Church in Bellville.
She is survived by her two daughters Traci (Todd) Russell of Bellville, Tami Lehnhart of Mansfield, and son Troy (Karen) Lehnhart of Bellville; 4 grandchildren Hollie Russell (Jeremiah Enderlee), Amanda (James) Boyd, Zachary Lehnhart and Chelsea Lehnhart; great grandchildren Miah and Noah Enderlee and Emery and Beckham Boyd; brothers Ray (Joy) Whatman, Chuck (Charlot) Whatman, Don Whatman, and Dave (Deb) Whatman; daughter-in-law Sheryl Lehnhart; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Lehnhart and son Todd Lehnhart.
Carole’s family will receive friends Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 4-7pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where her funeral will be held Friday at 11 am. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
The Lehnhart family would like to thank Pathways Hospice for the services provided to Carole. Their attentive care was greatly appreciated.
