Gail Ann Kunz, age 83 of Mansfield, passed away in Mansfield, Ohio on Monday, March 3, 2025, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
She was born on March 18, 1941, in Lucas, Ohio the daughter of John & Georgia (Ferris) Phillips. She was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High class of 1959. Gail worked as a member of the Production Team for Therm-O-Disc until her retirement in 2002.
On July 5, 1959 Gail married the love of her life, Ronald Kunz, at St. Mary of the Snows Church in Mansfield, Ohio. The couple shared 33 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 1992. They are reunited in Heaven together again.
Gail found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was casting a line off Ronald’s boat, always hoping for the next big catch, or skillfully outplaying her opponents as an undisputed Euchre shark. She had a passion for spending time with her family. Babysitting her grandkids and great-grandkids was never a chore but a privilege she cherished, filling their days with love, laughter, and maybe a few sweet treats. She was the heart of every holiday and family celebration, hosting with warmth, generosity, and, of course, her famous homemade strudel—an art she perfected and lovingly shared. Gail’s love, traditions, and competitive card-playing spirit will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Gail is survived by her children Georgia Kunz, Kim (Larry) Bonin, and Michael (Jennifer) Kunz), grandchildren Erica (Lawrence), Nicholas (Ashlee), Joshua (Jessica), Zachary (Katie), and Abigail (Michael), great-grandchildren Caleb, Allison (Jonas), Grace, Owen, Lucas, and Willow, sister Eleanor Marker, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, brother Clifford Phillips, sister Patricia Ernster, sister Mary Phillips, and great-granddaughter Julia Blevins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Father, John Phillips, Mother, Georgia Mae (Ferris) Phillips.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 3 pm at Mansfield Catholic Cemetery.
