MANSFIELD — Shelby’s Eve Schwemley and Clear Fork’s Mel Blubaugh added to already impressive résumés when the All-Northwest District girls basketball team was unveiled Wednesday evening.
So did their coaches.
Schwemley and Blubaugh were selected All-NW District Players of the Year and Shelby coach Natalie Lantz and Clear Fork’s Scott Sellers were Coaches of the Year.
The Ohio Dominican-bound Schwemley was the Division IV POY after averaging 21.5 points a game. Lantz shared the Division IV COY award with Wauseon’s Shelly Borton after leading the Whippets to their seventh straight Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference crown.
Blubaugh, who will play for Mount Vernon Nazarene, shared the Division V Player of the Year award with Ottawa-Glandorf’s Karsyn Erford. Blubaugh averaged 18.5 points a game.
Sellers shared Coach of the Year in Division V with Delta’s Kelsey Gillen. Sellers led Clear Fork to its first district title since 1989.
Mansfield Christian’s Megan Young and Lucas’ Jamie Grover were selected the Coach of the Year in Division VI and Division VII, respectively after leading their teams to the Mid-Buckeye Conference co-championship. Young shared the Division VI award with Colonel Crawford’s Zac Bauer and Patric Henry’s Justin Sonnenberg. Grover split the Division VII COY honor with Ottoville’s Vaughn Horstman.
