MONROE TOWNSHIP — No students were injured Tuesday afternoon when a Lucas Local Schools bus collided with a motorcycle, according to the Mansfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at 3:49 p.m. at the intersection of Ohio 603 and Schrack Road, according to troopers.

Kris Leiter, 60, of Lexington was operating a 2014 Blue Bird bus eastbound on Schrack Road, according to the patrol. Layton Cornell, 26, of Mansfield was driving a 2005 Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 southbound on Ohio 603.

A Lucas Local Schools bus collided with a motorcycle on Wednesday at the intersection of Ohio 603 and Schrack Road.

According to troopers, Leiter failed to yield at a posted stop sign and entered Ohio 603. Cornell tried to stop and the motorcycle overturned on the road, striking the bus, the patrol said.

Troopers said none of the seven students on the school bus were injured. Cornell suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene by Monroe Township EMS, according to the patrol.

Leiter was issued a citation for failure-to-yield at a stop sign, the patrol said.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by Monroe Township Fire and EMS.
