Mikayla Teran “Chew” Rice, 33, of Lexington fell asleep in death unexpectedly
Wednesday morning February 26, 2025 at Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital. Mikayla was
born November 26, 1991 in Mansfield, Ohio to Brian Chew and Barbara I. Sieving.
Mikayla was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. She dedicated
her life in baptism as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, April 5th, 2008. Mikayla enjoyed
zealously sharing her love for Jehovah to anyone that listened. She loved being with her
family and friends. Mikayla and Jay loved going to new restaurants, trying new things.
She loved Jay’s recipes, and sharing them with others. They loved to travel and have fun
adventures. Some of her favorite places to visit were Buc-ees, Gatlinburg, Boston, Maine
and any zoo or aquarium she was able to visit.
Her love for animals fueled her passion to start a career as a Vet Tech at the Ashland
Road Animal Clinic. Where she was able to care for animals and develop friendships
with many. She later changed course to help people with their financial needs at the
Mechanics Bank, where she developed friendships there as well. Mikayla was deeply
loved and will be missed by so many.
Mikayla is survived by her loving husband of 7 years, Jatavin “Jay” Rice, her parents
Brian Chew (Carol), Barbara I. Sieving (David), mother-in-law Delores Johnson,
father-in-law Antwon (Quwina) Rice, her grandfathers Sonny (Deb) Chew, Danny Albert,
Robert Sieving Sr., James “Jim” Basting, her siblings Kelsey (Matthew) George, Caleb
(Tiffany) Sieving, Andrew (Jamie) Sieving, Jessika (Adam) Lawless, Jacob, Joseph, and
Isaac Sieving, her brother-in-laws, Julius Johnson, and James Rice, her sister-in-laws
Princess Rice, and Jameryca Johnson. Her nieces and nephews, Evelyn, Dani-Rae,
Remington, Eloise, Winsley, Malachi, Addilyn, Bowman. Her aunts and uncles, Michael
(Michelle) Chew, Lori Wagner, Daniel (Emily) Sieving, Mark (Joy) Sieving, Beth
Sieving. Her numerous cousins.
Mikayla was preceded in death by her grandmothers Louise “Dee Dee” Albert, Marianna
Basting, and Barbara A. Sieving, grandfather Roger Pence, brother Isaiah Sieving, and
uncles John Pence, and Robert Sieving Jr.
Mikayla’s memorial services are to be held March 7th 5:30 pm at the Kingdom Hall of
Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1780 Middle Bellville Rd. Mansfield, Ohio 44904. There will be a
calling hours time to express sympathy to the family from 4:30-5:30 at the same location.
