GALION — The Galion Kiwanis Club with the help of the First United Church of Christ is launching a Community Coat Rack.
This Coat Rock will be at the pavilion of the First UCC at 248 Harding Way West in Galion.
“The Community Coat Rack is a simple idea,” said Kiwanis president Brian Treisch. “If you have a winter coat that is still in good shape that you don’t need, bring it to the Coat Rack and hang it up. If you need a coat for winter, come pick up a coat.
“We urge community members to donate their extra coats for the rest of the winter.”
The Community Coat Rack will be available through March 31, 2025. The Galion Kiwanis Club has served the youth and community of Galion since the 1920s.
“Our mission is to serve young people and improve the community,” club secretary Carrie Cottrell said. “The club is always open for people to join the organization.”
Meetings are held every Tuesday at Carrie’s Venue in Uptowne Galion.
The club has projects throughout the year and provides two $1000 scholarships to Galion students, supports the Galion YMCA, supports PB&J athletics, and many Galion school activities such as Key Club, the prom and more.
First UCC is participating as part of the outreach mission of the church. The pavilion is used by the Galion Community Band and by the monthly musical concerts benefitting local community projects and charities as well as by the UCC for outdoor worship in summer months.
Anyone wishing to join Kiwanis is welcome to come to a meeting. Meetings are held every Tuesday at noon at Carrie’s Venue, 129 Harding Way East in Uptowne Galion.
