MADISON TOWNSHIP — Madison Township trustees unlocked an opportunity for door renovations in a special meeting Saturday.
The township hall’s doors are original to the 1960 building. Trustee Tom Brandt presented quotes for work on all three doors from J & B Acoustical of Lexington.
The front and rear doors for the hall will receive new hinges, lever trim, weather stripping and panic devices. Brandt said J&B quoted $2,069 for each of those projects.
“The labor of removing the existing door and putting all that in and installing it will be $2,069 for each door,” Brandt said.

Trustee Dan Fletcher noted the additions will be to the existing doors at the hall.
“So it’s basically the same door with all new hardware,” Fletcher said. “We have panic hardware currently, but it’s old, so this will be better.”
The zoning office door on the east side of the building will be completely replaced, but within the existing door frame.
“That would be a new door with tempered glass and all-new hardware on it, and weather stripping,” Brandt said. “It will be painted too, and we’ll have labor and materials for a total of $3,100.”
Trustees approved the quotes, totalling $7,238, on Saturday and will be in touch with J&B on a construction schedule.
