Billie “Bill” Davis Denton, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Galion Meadows Nursing Home.

Born on April 6, 1942, in Columbia, KY., to the late James and Lola (Bryant) Denton, Bill grew up in Bucyrus, Ohio, where he attended Bucyrus Schools. He began his career as a meat cutter with A&P and went on to work for Great Scot and Scrivner Grocery, a career that took him and his family across Ohio, Utah, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Georgia.

On February 1, 1960, Bill married the love of his life, Carla Shumaker. Together, they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, family, and adventure. Bill was an active member of his community, formerly involved with the Col. Crawford and Canal Fulton clubs of Lions International. He was also a dedicated member of Woodlawn Methodist Church, where he played an instrumental role in organizing events such as the BBQ on the Green and the Men’s Prayer Breakfast.

A man of many passions, Bill found joy in woodworking, always crafting something with care and precision. He was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes, never missing a game and always cheering with unwavering loyalty.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife: Carla Denton of Galion; his son: Brian (Diana) Denton of Columbus; his cherished grandchildren; his siblings: Junior “Jim” (Geneva) Denton of Marion, and Jean Eidson of Bucyrus.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, David Scott, as well as his siblings, Jim Denton, Betty Snavely, and Ilene Maley.
