The Mansfield Noon Optimist Club treated 41 preschoolers from Lucas and Plymouth-Shiloh school districts to a day at Buckeye Imagination Museum Feb. 13.

MANSFIELD — Forty-one preschoolers from Lucas Local and Plymouth-Shiloh Local School districts were treated to Buckeye Imagination Museum Feb. 13 for Optimist Day.

Optimist Day, designated by Optimist International, is celebrated on the first Thursday of February. Due to weather considerations, the club’s event was moved to Feb. 13.

The Mansfield Noon Optimist Club has celebrated Optimist Day with community activities for the past three years.

The goal for Optimist Day is to spread goodwill and optimism to children in the community.

A special thanks goes to Toni Zehe, preschool coordinator for the Lucas and Plymouth-Shiloh districts for working out the details of the event.

The Mansfield Noon Optimist Club also provided pizza from Two Cousins Pizza on Main Street. Two Cousins owner Nichole Hamilton was very helpful in making certain our pizzas were ready on time to serve the hungry crowd.

“Gauging from the looks on the children’s  faces, the event was a success,” said Optimist Club member Kevin Zehe. “Parents, teachers and Optimist Club members attended and provided supervision. It was a joy watching the children explore the museum activities.”

The Mansfield Noon Optimist Club has been serving the City of Mansfield and Richland  County for over 100 years. It appears that its motto “Friend of Youth” was successfully met for this event.
