Deborah “Deb” Gail Macklin, 73, of Galion passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Avita Health System – Galion Community Hospital.

Deb was born in Bluefield, West Virginia, on January 8, 1952, to the late Howard “Spud” and Louise (Terry) Murphy. On February 20, 1971, Deb would marry Clifford “Kip” Macklin and they would share 54 years of loving marriage together, Kip survives in Galion.

A proud 1970 graduate of Galion High School, Deb touched the lives of many with her warm spirit and her unyielding love for her family and friends. Known for her kind and welcoming nature, she was a true “people person” who made everyone feel like they were part of her family. Her home was always open to others, and she affectionately earned the title of “Mom” from many of her children’s friends.

Deb’s love for language and attention to detail was unmatched, especially when it came to correcting the grammar of her kids—Melissa and Aaron. With her background in English, she ensured her children grew up with an appreciation for the power of words and the importance of communication.

An avid movie lover, Deb found joy in watching countless films. She was also a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, never missing a Saturday game and cheering on her team with enthusiasm.

In addition to her husband, Deb is survived by her children: Melissa Stewart of Galion, Aaron (Angela) Macklin of Mansfield; and 3 grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Deb was preceded in death by her son-in-law: Kevin Stewart; and siblings: Joe Murphy, Shirley Gates, Jim Murphy, and Dean Murphy.
