GALION — Mansfield Senior authored a dominating boys basketball performance as the Tygers began a busy week turning toward the close of the regular season.
Coach Marquis Sykes saw his team roll to a 75-38 win at Galion on Tuesday night in a non-conference encounter.
Freshman phenom Kalen Brooks posted 20 points. Rashad Reed contribute 16 points, senior Kyevi Roane added 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Andrew Brooks Jr. chipped in nine points.
Jameson Glew was Galion’s lone double-figure scorer with 10 points.
The Tygers broke to a 22-8 first-quarter lead and owned a 39-21 halftime bulge. They blew it open in the third period, outscoring the hosts 28-5. Galion enjoyed a 12-8 scoring edge in the fourth quarter.
At one point Senior High fashioned a 27-2 run.
The Tygers hit a blistering 22-of-32 field goals inside the arc (72 percent), and added 7-of-16 marksmanship from 3-point range.
Galion suffered 17 turnovers and was outrebounded 31-19.
Mansfield Senior improves to 14-5 overall and returns to action on Friday night at West Holmes.
Galion slips to 7-14 overall, and travels to Marion Harding on Thursday.
