Bernard D. Wolf, 97, of Ashland, died Friday, February 7, 2025, at home. Bernard was born on February 4, 1928, in Lancaster, Ohio, to the late Rev. Merle & Lois (Eby) Wolf. He attended Adario and graduated from Savannah High School in 1946. He was a member of the Naval Reserves for 8 years. He was a member of Adario Methodist Church for 70 years and served every position in the church except treasurer and minister. Bernard was also a 4-H adviser for 2 years and served on the Savannah School Board for 4 years during the consolidation of Savannah and Union School, creating Crestview School District.
Bernard worked for 3 years at Mansfield Tire, 23 years at Paige Dairy, and 20 years for UPS. He was also a 50-year member of the Shiloh Masons.
He was married to Shirley (Neer) Wolf on November 12, 1949, and she preceded him in death in June 1996, after 47 years of marriage. In June 1998, he married Donna Esbenshade, who survives him. The pair were married for 26 years. Also surviving are his two children, Steve (Margaret) Wolf of Adario and Sue (Pat) Hall of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Megan (Kevin) Morrow of Lexington, Andrew Wolf of Findley, Aaron Hall (Paige May) of Columbus, and Nathan (Aubrie) Hall of Mansfield; four great-grandchildren Tristyn and Blayne Morrow, Madison Ross, and Landon Hall; three stepsons Stanley Esbenshade of Arizona, and Steve and Gary Esbenshade of Ashland; five step-grandchildren Eric Esbenshade, Katie (Frank) Hurd, and Travis, Cody, and Katie (Frank) Hurd; great-grandson Lucas Esbenshade; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and sister-in-law Nancy Neer.
Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley, his brother Gerald Wolf, sisters Dorothy (Pat) Patterson and Rose (Frank) Kithcart, and in-laws Jim (Ruthann Neer) Greibling, Bill (Gene) Neer, Cecile (Phyllis) Wattle, Nancy (Ken) Ault, and Jerry Neer.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center Street, Ashland, with Kevin McClain presiding. Calling hours will be held prior to the service at 10 a.m., with a luncheon following the service. Burial and graveside will follow the luncheon in Adario Cemetery.
