ASHLAND: Elfriede Anna Gross was born on November 27, 1933 in Breman, Germany to Frieda and Paul Rebitzer. She immigrated to America on April 30, 1958 and became a naturalized citizen on October 17, 1975.

She married Paul Gross on June 27, 1959 in Akron, Ohio and they shared 35 years of marital bliss. During their marriage, they traveled extensively throughout Europe, the United States, and Canada. Some of their favorite trips were snow skiing, going to dude ranches, and sailing on cruise ships.

Elfriede’s love of animals included three Irish setters, all named Lady, and many horses. She was an accomplished equestrian and gardener. She shared her gardening expertise and flowers with her many friends and neighbors.

Elfriede was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. She leaves behind her sister Gertrude (Heine) DeVries and two nephews, Robert and Stefan DeVries, who still reside in Germany.

A private burial will be held at Zion Four Corners Cemetery in Butler.
