BELLVILLE — No girls basketball team team in north central Ohio benefited more from postseason expansion than Clear Fork.
The Colts dropped from Division III to Division V and earned the No. 1 seed in the seven-team Shelby district during the girls tournament draw Sunday afternoon.
Clear Fork will host fellow Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference member and No. 7 Galion in the sectional final at 7 p.m. Feb. 13. The Colts swept the season series against the Tigers.
A win would send Clear Fork into the district semifinals against No. 5 Edison.
On the opposite side of the bracket, No. 6 Crestview will visit No. 2 Willard on Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. for a sectional final game.
Division III
Both Madison and Mansfield Senior will open Division III tournament play on the road. The fifth-seeded Rams will visit No. 4 Sandusky for a sectional final game Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. No. 6 Senior High will travel to No. 2 Ashland for a sectional final Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.
Division IV
Shelby picked up the No. 2 seed in the Division IV Bucyrus district tournament and will host No. 6 Lexington on Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in one of the most intriguing first-round matchups.
In the upper half of the bracket, No. 8 Ontario will visit top-seeded Bellevue in a sectional final game Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.
Division VI
Mid-Buckeye Conference champ Mansfield Christian picked up the No. 5 seed and will open the postseason on the road. The Flames will visit Firelands Conference champ New London Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. for a sectional final game.
Division VII
Lucas earned the No. 3 seed in the Division VII Shelby districtfield and will host No. 6 Crestline in a sectional final Feb. 15 at noon.
No. 4 Plymouth will host No. 5 Norwalk St. Paul Feb. 15 at noon in the sectional finals.
