MANSFIELD — Kyevi Roane was a man on a mission Friday night, and that mission was two-fold.

First, and most importantly, Roane willed Mansfield Senior to a thrilling, 94-88 double-overtime win over Triway.

Second, and as a byproduct of his tremendous all-around effort, Roane recorded an incredibly rare feat for a high school basketball player: a triple-double. The Tygers’ senior finished with 21 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists.

Roane’s heroics led five Senior High players in double-figure scoring. Freshman Kalen Brooks added 20 points, Rashad Reed Jr. contributed 15 points, D’Vontae Johnson added 13 and Andrew Brooks Jr. chipped in 10. Jahmere Pearson also had nine points.

The game was close throughout, tied at 19-19 after the first quarter, with the Tygers on top 41-40 at halftime. Coach Marquis Sykes saw his team maintain a 63-61 edge heading to the fourth period, but the Titans knotted the score at 80-80 to force overtime.

Each team scored 2 points in the overtime for an 82-82 score forcing the second extra session. Senior High pulled away with a 10-4 scoring advantage in the second overtime for the victory.

Triway stayed close by hitting 13-of-26 treys, while the Tygers enjoyed a 37-30 rebounding advantage.

Triway’s Lane Crilow made 9-of-10 treys for a game-high 33 points. Bruin Flinner netted 25 points, while Jalen Hackett and Jaxon Clippinger scored 10 points apiece.

Mansfield Senior improved to 11-6 overall. Senior High will host New Philadelphia on Saturday night.

Triway falls to 8-9, and will tangle with Worthington Christian on Saturday afternoon.
