Douglas “Mitch” Miller

If you ever saw Mitch Miller on his skateboard or with his daughter Lucy, you knew he
was happy.

A longtime resident of Mansfield, Mitch loved nothing more than spending time with little
Lucy… taking her to parks, the library, and events around town. He also shared his
other passion with her… skateboarding, a pastime that brought him great joy and a
supportive community. Mitch was a regular in the local skate shop and enjoyed skating
solo or with friends throughout downtown Mansfield.

Born in Denver, Colorado on September 4, 1996, to Melinda (Bell) Allenbaugh and
Doug Miller, Mitch grew up in Mansfield, where he attended Woodland Elementary, St.
Peter’s, and Mansfield Senior High School, earning his diploma in 2015. During high
school, Mitch excelled on the soccer field and made a splash diving for the Tyger swim
Team.

Throughout his childhood, Mitch engaged in a variety of sport activities with his brother
Jacob, and his close-knit group of friends. Mitch spent his summer days swimming and
diving at the Woodland Club and his winter nights snowboarding at Snow Trails. Mitch
and his family were always up for an adventure and together, they traveled to and saw a
baseball game at every Major League Baseball Stadium in the United States and Canada. In
addition, their travels took them to East Coast and West Coast ski resorts where Mitch
would embrace the challenges and thrills of the various terrains.

Wherever his travels took him, Mitch was always personable, compassionate, resilient,
and resourceful and it was these qualities that helped him navigate his life’s journey.
Mitch enjoyed serving others, a quality that began during his childhood when on
Thanksgiving morning, he and his family would prepare and deliver meals to persons in
need in Mansfield. As a young adult, Mitch moved to Florida and continued to serve
others at his father’s charitable restaurant, where he helped provide meals to people
impacted by Hurricane Ian. Upon his return to Mansfield, Mitch continued to serve
others in his job at Athena Greek Restaurant as well as by conducting outreach in
downtown Mansfield, where he could be seen passing out food on his skateboard and
notifying city officials of unhoused persons.

Mitch passed away Friday, November 1, 2024, after a tragic skateboarding accident in
downtown Mansfield. His compassionate heart, adventurous nature, and storytelling
ability will be missed by an extensive list of family and friends who knew and loved him.
Mitch is survived by his daughter Lucy, mother Melinda Allenbaugh (Jamie), father Doug
Miller (Amy Eldridge), and brother Jacob Miller.

In a final gesture of his caring nature, Mitch was an organ donor… his gifts will enhance
the lives of countless others and their families.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations for Lucy’s future through their
GoFundMe
