MANSFIELD — Under the direction of Lori Turner, the Renaissance Theatre will present the Renaissance Youth Opera Theatre (RYOT) Workshop Showcase on Friday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.
The Showcase will be performed in the Ren’s Theatre 166 space, and is a part of the Mechanics Bank Education Series. General admission tickets are free for adults and students, and are on sale now at the Renaissance Box Office, via phone, and online at rentickets.org.
Designed to focus on the individual performer, the RYOT Workshop Showcase offers opportunities for young actors to work one on one and in small ensembles with director Lori Turner and other guest professionals to develop and grow vocal skills, hone their acting chops and perform in a smaller cast setting.
“This year’s RYOT Showcase performers will stretch their acting/singing chops with a variety of classic Broadway comedy scenes ranging from Gilbert and Sullivan to Stephen Sondheim,” Turner said.
“Students will present short scenes and musical numbers from a range of productions, including: Guys and Dolls, Mikado, 1001 Arabian Nights, Bye Bye Birdie, My Fair Lady.”
Offered as an opportunity for participation by students in second through 12th grade, the workshop features performers in two age groups (2nd Grade through 6th Grade; and 7th Grade through 12th Grade).
This year’s showcase features the talents of more than twenty students, including: Gabriel Anderson, Amy Bradley, Olivia Brumagin, Darius Darmody, Piper Donahue, Jackson Horn, Audrey King, McKinnley King, Skyler Marhenke, Marilena Kruer, Steliana Kruer, Rosie Lawhorn, Briner McCready, Eliana Nelson, Alyssia Pickett, Jace Painley, Saige Painley, Maddie Rice, Caroline Secrist, Alex Trolian, Sloane Walter, and Halle Williams.
