It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of JoFreda Smith, age 64, who departed this life on January 20, 2025, at her residence in Crestline. JoFreda was born on October 12, 1960, and was a beloved member of her family and community.

A graduate of Madison High School, Class of 1978, JoFreda pursued her passion for hospitality by earning a bachelor’s degree in Restaurant and Hotel Management from North Central State College (NCSC). Her career included a significant tenure as the Assistant Manager in Food Preparation at Galion Community Hospital, followed by 20 dedicated years at IBTech.

JoFreda was not only a devoted employee but also a dedicated grandmother, never missing a sporting event of her eleven cherished grandchildren. She found joy in spending time with them, taking them swimming, shopping, and to local festivals. Her love for gardening and flowers brought beauty to her home, and she was known for her delightful holiday parties, particularly her famously festive Halloween celebrations.

JoFreda is survived by her children, Christeena Smith, Benjamin (Sabrina Carter) Smith, Joey (Janelle) Feagin, and Terrel (Alex Crider) Feagin, her eleven grandchildren, her siblings: FreddieLou Reeder, LeAnn Crawford, Deena Strohm, Nicole Albanese, Delena Gonzalez, numerous nieces and nephews, and her longtime friend and partner, Michael Ballard.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

JoFreda will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
