MOUNT VERNON — U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Oliver Childers, a native of Mount Vernon, will join Joint Task Force-National Capital Region in support of the 60th Presidential Inauguration.

Childers graduated from Fredericktown High School in 2022.

On Monday Childers was stationed in Washington D.C. as part of the ceremonial honor guard in support of President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

“I feel honored to be able to march at the Presidential Inauguration,” Childers said. “Being from a small town, it means a lot to be part of very large things and I will be representing those from my small town.”

Childers said he was grateful knowing that not many are asked to take part in such a special ceremony.

“I want to give a shout-out to the Knox County Career Center, Air Force Junior ROTC, their instructors mentored be to be the Airman I am today,” Childers said.
