Richland County has been chosen to receive federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds. Applications are being accepted at this time to be considered for funding for area non-profit agencies in Richland County that provide housing, utilities, food pantry assistance and congregate meals.

The Richland County Local Board that consists of community leaders and non-profit agencies will determine how the funds awarded to Richland County are to be distributed among the Emergency Food and Shelter Program entities in the county.  Organizations interested in applying should have 501c3 status, an accounting system and local board.

Richland County has distributed Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds previously to The Salvation Army-Mansfield, Catholic Charities, Wayfinders Shelter, The Domestic Violence Shelter, The Salvation Army-Shelby and Plymouth and Independent Living Center.  These organizations provided rent, utility, emergency shelter and food assistance in previous funding years.
