GALION — Two people were shot on Wednesday afternoon, an incident that led to a four-hour standoff with police that ended peacefully, according to Galion police Chief Ryan Strange.
The suspected gunman, Jerold L. Frazier II, was taken into custody.
The chief said Galion police received a 911 call at 2:18 p.m. about a shooting at 941 E. Walnut St. Officers found two people suffering from gunshot wounds outside the residence.
The victims, both residents at the address, identified Frazier, their roommate, as the shooter.

Galion Fire and EMS transported the shooting victims, an adult male and an adult female, to Galion Avita Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Both victims said Frazier had another male in the residence and was still armed, according to Strange.
The suspect called the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and said he had shot at least one person and had another man hostage inside his residence. The hostage was identified as a 42-year-old man.
The chief said Frazier threatened to shoot the hostage if anyone came into the house, prompting a standoff.
“A perimeter was set up around the residence, officers from surrounding law enforcement agencies arrived to assist, and negotiations began,” Strange said in a written press release.
“After several hours, the suspect and the hostage exited the residence at 6:27 p.m., where the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The person held inside the residence was unharmed,” the chief said.
The incident remains under investigation and charges are pending, according to the chief.
Frazier was transported to the Crawford County Justice Center and the case will be forwarded to the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
Galion police were assisted by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Crawford County Special Response Team, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Ohio State Highway Patrol Bucyrus Post and Special Response Team, Galion Fire Department, and the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office.
