MANSFIELD: Osa Goodwin’s diminutive size belied the size of her big heart. The depth of her desire to volunteer and serve others in her community, her church, and her family reflected a heart of service – so big, so strong, and so loving, it mirrored the heart of God. She was incredibly caring – always there for others – supportive and loving.
Her loving heart is at rest, as the Lord called Osa to Himself Friday, January 10, 2025 from Kobacker House in Columbus. She was 91.
Born July 19, 1933 in Esbjerg, Denmark, to parents Anton and Elsie (Strunge) Jensen, she came to the United States in 1954 at the invitation of her aunt and uncle Gerda and Lee Forup who sponsored her.
On June 25, 1955 she married Donald E. Goodwin, and they were blessed with two sons. Osa set to the noble task of raising her family on their Darlington East Road farm near Bellville for 50 years, only recently moving to Tower Lakes. Osa enjoyed her flower gardens and was very active socially around Bellville – until those stunning twin granddaughters were born – and then she focused on doting on those girls.
A member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Osa volunteered with the Bellville Neighborhood Outreach Center. She will be remembered as an incredibly caring and supportive provider, invested in her family, church and community.
She is survived by sons Scott Goodwin of Lexington, and Spencer Goodwin of Mansfield; granddaughters Krista (David) Ellsworth and Karli (Ben) Kreinbrink of all Dublin; great-grandchildren Maria and Annie Ellsworth and Beckham and Blake Kreinbrink; her sister Hanne Anderson and a cousin Paul Graakjar both in Esbjerg, Denmark; and a nephew Dennis Long in Jacksonville, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald on March 20, 2009. Also deceased are aunts and uncles Gerda and Lee Forup and Mary Alice and Eugene Long, cousin Gerald Forup and niece Lora Moritz.
The Goodwin family will receive guests Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Her funeral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Lindsey Funtik officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Bellville Neighborhood Outreach Center may be made in her memory.
Osa’s neighbors at Tower Lakes have been wonderful to her. Her family is eternally grateful for their help and support.
