Charles R. Wilson Jr., of Bellville, Ohio passed away on January 4, 2025. He was 72.
He was born on July 7, 1952 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late Charles Sr. and Mary L. (Miller) Wilson. After graduating from Mansfield Senior High School in 1970 he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Charles served faithfully for 20 years as an armorer, shop chief, drill instructor, gunsmith instructor, as well as a gunsmithing support for the Marine Corps Shooting Team before he retired as a decorated Master Sergeant in 1990. He had a passion for gunsmithing and would travel to Rochester Institute to teach a gunsmithing class for many years.
On November 20, 1971, Charles married the love of his life Brenda Marietta and the couple shared 52 wonderful years together raising their family.
Charles is survived by his loving wife Brenda Wilson, children Chanda L. (Charles) Cooney, Charles R. Wilson III, and Crystal A. Andrews, seven grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, sisters Julia Wilson, Patty Godby, Mary E. Wilson, Leslie (Carl) Ramsey, and Kathy Graves, as well as numerous extended family members.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Gary A. Wilson, sister Susan Wilson, and grandson Andy Cooney.
Charles’ life will be celebrated privately, per his wishes.
