MANSFIELD – Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center recently received recognition from Senator Matt Huffman, President of the Ohio Senate; Senator Bill Reineke, 26th Senatorial District; and Senator Mark Romanchuk, 22nd Senatorial District on behalf of the members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly of Ohio for receiving a Speech-Language Pathology and School Psychology Consultant Grant for the 2024-2025 school year.
“On behalf of the Mid-Ohio ESC Board of Governors and administration, I want to thank the Senate leadership for this recognition that was made possible by Director of Student Services, Jennifer Crum,” said Superintendent Kevin Kimmel.
“I appreciate Jen’s dedication and work to bring these additional resources to support our region in the areas of speech-language pathology and school psychology services.”
This grant will significantly bolster support for districts across central Ohio, enhancing the quality and compliance of speech-language and school psychology services.
One of the primary aims of this initiative is to address the critical shortage of qualified professionals in rural areas, particularly for Speech-Language Pathologists and School Psychologists.
This grant enables Mid-Ohio ESC to expand its “Grow Your Own” Development Programs, starting with the High School Mentorship program.
The goal is to prepare and mentor highly qualified candidates ready for certification in these fields.
In the recognition letter, Senators Huffman, Renieke, and Romanchuk wrote, “With the funds from its new Speech-Language Pathology and School Psychology Consultant Grant, MOESC will be able to focus on enhancing the quality and compliance of speech-language and school psychology services through the hiring of new staff and experts, and clearly, this grant is a justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection not only on the organization itself but also on its leadership and staff and on the community.”
