MADISON TOWNSHIP — If Joey Walker’s senior season turns out anything like his recently-completed junior campaign, then the rest of the Ohio Cardinal Conference could be in for another long year.
The North Central Ohio Player of the Year, Walker led Madison to just its second OCC title in program history and first since 2011. The Rams were a perfect 6-0 in OCC play and finished the season with an overall mark of 17-2-2.
A shifty midfielder, Walker scored 33 goals and added 12 assists. He was selected the OCC’s Offensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the North Central Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association first team in Division III.
Here’s a look at the rest of the All-North Central Ohio boys soccer team:
Randy Jamieson, Madison
Another of Madison’s talented juniors, Jamieson scored 15 goals and added 19 assists. He was selected the NCOSSCA’s Division III Player of the Year and was an All-Ohio pick. Jamieson was selected to the United Soccer Coaches all-region team.
Will Perkins, Lexington
A senior, Perkins joins Jamieson at the top of the attack. He scored nine goals and added 12 assists. Perkins was selected to the All-Ohio team in Division III.
Alex Maiyer, Mansfield Christian
A senior midfielder, Maiyer was instrumental in Mansfield Christian’s postseason run to the Division V regional championship game. He was selected the NCOSSCA Division V Player of the Year after scoring two goals and adding three assists. Maiyer was a Division V All-Ohioan and a member of the USC all-region team.
Evan Ruhe, Ontario
A senior midfielder, Ruhe scored 10 goals and added a team-leading nine assists. Ruhe was a Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference and NCOSSCA Division III first-team pick.
Kaden Howman, Ashland
A junior midfielder, Howman scored 12 goals and added seven assists as the Arrows finished second to Madison in the Ohio Cardinal Conference standings. Howman was selected to the OCC first team and was an All-NCOSSCA first-teamer in Division III.
Kade Beachy, Clear Fork
The Colts advanced to the Division IV regional tournament thanks in no small part to Beachy. The sophomore midfielder scored seven goals and ranked among are leaders with 12 assists. Beachy was an All-MOAC and All-NCOSSCA Division V first-teamer.
Justin Crall, Mansfield Senior
A senior, Crall led a resurgence at Senior High. He scored a team-high 15 goals and added a team-best 14 assists for the Tygers (8-9-1). Crall was an OCC first-team pick and a NCOSSCA first-teamer in Division III.
Mason Jacobus, Madison
A senior defender, Jacobus was selected the OCC Defensive Player of the Year. Madison surrendered 23 goals in 21 and authored eight shutouts. Jacobus was selected to the NCOSSCA first team in Division III.
Griffin DeBolt, Mansfield Senior
An athletic senior defensive midfielder, DeBolt scored nine goals and added 10 assists. He was selected to the OCC first team and the NCOSSCA first team in Division III.
Liam Beer, Clear Fork
A senior defender, Beer was the anchor of a defense that allowed 1 or fewer goals 10 times. He was selected to the MOAC first team and the NCOSSCA first team in Division V.
Justin Pancake, Ashland
The Arrows allowed 19 goals in 17 matches with Pancake in goal. The junior had 40 saves and five shutouts. He was selected to the OCC first team and the NCOSSCA first team in Division III.
