Barbara Mitchell, 85, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital. She was the widower of Lanny Mitchell.
Barb was born in Ashland, Ohio, on November 13, 1939. She was the daughter of Donald and Mary Eggerton. Barb graduated from Madison High School in 1957. She retired from Therm-O-Disc as a quality control technician after 52 years.
Barb enjoyed her time at Bible study with her brother Dennis, sister-in-law Genelle, and sister Betty. She loved to spoil her great grandkids. Barb liked tanning, reading, watching Basketball Wives, true crime, and putting puzzles together with her family. She will be remembered for her funny personality and kindness toward her family and friends.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her sons, Donald and Thomas Carns; her siblings, Betty Scheurer, Patricia Lehman, Dennis Eggerton, and sister-in-law, Genelle Eggerton; her grandchildren, Desiree Gonzales, Sam Carns, Jessica Steel, and Brittany Elswick; her sons-in-law, Chris Elswick and Hunter Mitchell; her daughter-in-law, Ashlee Mitchell; her 11 nieces and nephews; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald; mother, Mary; brother, Dwight Eggerton; sister, Mary Lou Ward; son, Lonny Mitchell; and husband, Lanny Mitchell.
A celebration of life in memory of Barb will be held somewhere in the summer of 2025. Details will be provided by the family at a later date.
