Mansfield: Edward L. Brauchler, age 88, of Mansfield went to celebrate Christmas with his Lord and Savior on December 25, 2024.
Ed was born February 2, 1936 in Mansfield to the late Louie and Elizabeth (Scholler) Brauchler and attended Mansfield Senior High School. On October 15, 1954 he married Wilma Mae Bemiller, together raising their two children and celebrating 70 years of marriage.
Edward worked for 30 years at General Motors as a quality control inspector where he was known to his colleagues as “Eddy”.
Together Ed and Wilma enjoyed collecting and selling antique glassware and spent 26 years in retirement at Cape Coral, Florida enjoying the warm climate and shelling on the beach. Ed was a NASCAR fan following Jeff Gordon, and was faithfully dedicated to his Ohio State Buckeyes, and Cleveland professional sports. Slower days included lounging in the family room with a good Western show like Gunsmoke or partaking remotely in broadcast church services.
He is survived by his beloved Wilma Brauchler, son Edward (Karen) Brauchler of Florida, daughter Cathleen (Donald) Byler of Pennsylvania, grandchildren Carla (Brandon) Westfield, Mark (Heather) Brauchler, Ryan (Seely) Byler, Kristi (Danny) Steech, and Brianna (her fiancee Conor Woods) Byler; and great grandchildren Jordan (Ryan) Pihl, Jaret Westfield, Caiden Brauchler, Elly Steech, Brock Steech, Adley Byler and Bryce Byler along with his canine buddy Snoopy and extended family and friends.
The Brauchler family will receive friends Friday, January 3, 2025 from 10 to 11 am in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will follow at 11 am. Pastor Dan Krause will officiate and burial will be in Bunkerhill Cemetery near Butler.
Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the Richland County Humane Society.
