Virginia Arlene (Stoehr) Osborn passed into the presence of the Lord on Friday, December 27, 2024.

Born on April 14th, 1928, in Rushville, Nebraska, Virginia was the eldest child of Marshall and Katie Stoehr. She graduated from American Falls High School (Idaho) in 1946. She was working as a switchboard operator in Jerome, Idaho when she met Leonard, her husband of 37 years. In a “Yours, Mine and Ours” situation, they raised a blended family together first in Oregon, and then Alaska. In the beginning, she wasn’t sure Alaska was for her but grew to love it and missed it when she moved to Shelby, Ohio after the passing of Leonard. She spoke fondly of her years in Alaska and loved to entertain people with stories of her life there.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard (1922 – 1996), her brother Duane (1931 – 2023), and stepson, Dennis (1943 – 2021). She is survived by her sister and best friend, Beverly, and her children, Paul Johnston, Earl (Teresa) Johnston, Bill (Kathy) Johnston, Bob (Marny) Johnston, Susan (Dan) Gates, and Katy (Paul) Rothert.

Virginia was known for her kindness and interest in those around her, remembering everyone’s names and details of their lives. She had an unending curiosity that had her discussing everything from astronomy to a documentary about Jimi Hendrix well into her 90’s. She had a mischievous sense of humor, and her laugh will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

A memorial event will be planned at a later date.
