MANSFIELD — Eight employees were recently honored by Richland County Sheriff Steve Sheldon as the department’s “Employees of the Year” for 2024.

The eight were honored for distinguished service in their respective divisions.

Also, there were employees who were recognized and issued prestigious Buckeye State Sheriff Association awards who demonstrated exceptional service.

Their awards meet the criteria of the BSSA, including enhancing public safety by their actions.

“These extraordinary individuals exemplify the very best of what it means to serve the public,” Sheldon said. “I am proud of all the employees of the Sheriff’s Office and the outstanding job they do every day.”

Deputy of the Year — Caleb Neer

Corrections Officer of the Year — Cory Evans

Deputy Supervisor of the Year — Sgt. Andrew Knee

Corrections Supervisor of the Year — Lt. Rachel Kleman

Dispatcher of the Year — Rebecca Hetler

Civilian of the Year — Amy Myers

Detective of the Year — Wayne Liggett

Special Deputy of the Year — Chad McGinty

Mounted Deputy of the Year — Karen Schaad
