NEW PHILADELPHIA — A strong second-half effort fueled Lexington’s Ohio Cardinal Conference victory at New Philadelphia on Friday night.

The Minutemen jumped on top 12-6 through the first quarter, and led 21-19 at halftime. The second half belonged to coach Scott Hamilton’s team.

The Minutemen expanded the margin to 36-28 through three periods, and put it away with an 11-6 edge in the fourth quarter.

Jakob Legron toped Lex with 14 points, while Seven Allen chipped in 10 points. Joe Caudill registered six points and 14 rebounds. Lexington dominated the glass by a 31-19 count and doubled up on points in the paint, 28-14.

The Quakers committed 17 turnovers to 10 for the Minutemen. New Philadelphia shot just 34 percent from the field and did not muster a double-figure scorer.

Lexington improved to 4-0 overall, 2-0 in the OCC and will travel to Wooster on Tuesday.

New Philadelphia is 2-3, 0-2 and travels to Dover on Tuesday.
