Thomas Malinky Jr., 81, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away on December 3, 2024, after a battle with illness. He was born on April 13, 1943, in Avella, Pennsylvania, to the late Thomas and Mary (Sporka) Malinky. Thomas married Susan Malinky (Pifer) on July 4, 1996 and together they shared 22 years of marriage.
Thomas graduated from Avella High School in 1961, where he was affectionately known as “Buck.” In the 1970s, he relocated to the Youngstown, Ohio area, where he worked at General Motors. After retiring, he continued to reside in the area until 2018, when the passing of his wife led him to move to Mansfield, Ohio, where he spent his remaining years with his daughter.
Thomas had a lifelong love for cars and owned many classic vehicles throughout his life, including a 1964 Ford Mustang, a Corvette Sting Ray, and a variety of other muscle cars. His love for automobiles was matched only by his loyalty to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he never missed a game. Thomas, most of all, cherished spending time with his family, especially his daughter and grandchildren.
Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Susan, and his son, Jason Malinky, as well as his parents.
He is survived by his daughter, Cheyenne Malinky; grandchildren, Forest and Melody (of Cheyenne), and Makala (of Jason); his brother, Timothy Malinky of York, PA; and his sister, Catherine Swickard (Malinky) of Westerville, OH.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor his memory.
